COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The Terry Fox Centre is a not‐for‐profit society with the objective of ensuring that the legacy of Terry Fox lives on and is shared with future generations in Canada and around the world. The Centre, planned to be located in Vancouver, is envisioned to house artifacts and memorabilia from Terry’s 1980 Marathon of Hope. It will function as a conduit to cancer education and research by connecting the public, donors, and researchers.

Every Step Counts is a unique running and walking program founded by the Victoria Foundation and hosted at the Victoria Cool Aid Society. The innovative program is designed for people experiencing barriers and challenges with housing, mental health, addiction and other related issues. It is positive and unique, drawing on the wide-reaching and long-lasting benefits of exercising and teamwork to foster self esteem, confidence, energy and healthy lifestyle choices.

Runners of Compassion is a non-profit society whose members participate as a group in fundraising and volunteer activities, in order to provide support to a variety of charitable causes, organizations and non-traditional groups.

Shoes for Youth is an initiative created through the collaboration between Frontrunners and Runners of Compassion which has donated more than 1,000 pairs of shoes to youth in need.

The Cool Aid Society is an organization striving to end homelessness in Victoria. In partnership with others in the community they are working to advocate for and provide emergency shelter, supportive housing, integrated health care and other support services.
